History of Wearable Devices
Wearable technology has evolved significantly since its inception. One of the earliest consumer successes was the Pulsar Calculator Wristwatch in 1975. This was followed by the introduction of the first Bluetooth headset in 2000 and the launch of the GoPro camera in 2004.
A pivotal moment in the development of wearable technology came in 2013 with the release of Google Glass—a voice-operated, internet-connected eyewear device that incorporated augmented reality and a camera. Although innovative, it also sparked debates about user privacy and data security.
Today, the most successful wearable devices are smartwatches and health or fitness trackers, valued for their real-time data capabilities and integration with mobile ecosystems.
